WHAT IS SCREEN PRINTING?
Chambers dictionary defined screenprinting as "a stencil process in which the color applied is forced through silk or other fine-mesh cloth." Tessa uses this wonderful art form to make each Asset Designs product by hand in her studio, located in Mile End, Montréal. Each tee shirt or tote bag is entirely unique, and made one at a time.
WHAT IS SLOW FASHION?
Slow Fashion encourages consumers to buy garments for quality and longevity. It encourages slower production schedules, fair wages, lower carbon footprints. Real people make each and every garment that Asset Designs sells. Asset Designs makes a tee shirt that you can feel GREAT about purchasing!
HOW IS ASSET DESIGNS INVOLVED IN SUSTAINABILITY?
Asset Designs is invested in promoting fair wages and quality working conditions for factory workers. We don't endorse or re-sell products purely for the sake of an 'organic' or 'eco-friendly' label. We take the time to verify the certifications of factories and assess the overall carbon footprint of each product. Often, purchasing a locally sewn recycled cotton tee shirt has a lower carbon footprint than an imported product from a foreign source. Asset Designs weighs these costs and thoughtfully chooses suppliers in order to offer the most eco-friendly product of the highest quality. Our tee shirt suppliers believe that buying locally is an endorsement of socially and environmentally friendly practices.
WHERE DOES ASSET DESIGNS' FABRIC COME FROM?
Our cotton production meets the Fair Labor Association (FLA) Workplace Code of Conduct. The factories that produce our raw goods are certified as Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) factories. WRAP is an independent, objective, non-profit team of global social compliance experts dedicated to promoting safe, lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing around the world through certification and education.
